DKNY: back to the '50s

One of the biggest New York shows of the week came straight after Preen, and Donna Karan went in a decidedly different direction as she embraced a '50s silhouette with serious sex appeal. The collection, entitled ‘Modern Sophisticate', showcased a series of below-the-knee hemlines juxtaposed with timeless fitted jackets and wool capes. As Karan herself explained: ‘It has optimism, but, at the same time, there's a new reality, and I had a modern girl in mind'. A decidedly chilled-out modern girl by the sounds of it – check out our 5 best bits below...

1. Donna Karan super-relaxed, chatting casually front of house with her chums on the front row just minutes before the show.

2. Hillary Duff, the new face of 'DKNY Jeans' looking gorgeous in a simple red DKNY shift.

3. The late-'50s-inspired silhouettes running throughout the collection, all with uniform black turtle-neck/tights.

4. The muted palette with pops of Kelly Green, Poppy Red and Rhubarb.

5. Donna doing her bit for charity, everyone at the DKNY show got a free DKNY 'Chari.tee'. Aahh...
