One of the biggest New York shows of the week came straight after Preen, and Donna Karan went in a decidedly different direction as she embraced a '50s silhouette with serious sex appeal. The collection, entitled ‘Modern Sophisticate', showcased a series of below-the-knee hemlines juxtaposed with timeless fitted jackets and wool capes. As Karan herself explained: ‘It has optimism, but, at the same time, there's a new reality, and I had a modern girl in mind'.
