Whatever you think of Barbie, the fashion world clearly approves. They paid serious homage to the iconic blonde bombshell's 50th birthday this weekend. And hundreds upon hundreds of fans (yep, adults and children FYI) queued up for a chance to get in to the Barbie runway show. Billed as a 3pm start in the Bryant Park tents, there were tears and tantrums when punters and fashionistas alike were informed by 3.45pm that the show was overcapacity. And what a show they missed. Divided into three acts – Decade, Faux Reality and Future – 50 Barbie dolls strutted their stuff in designs by some serious fashion heavyweights. Rachel Roy's sequinned monochrome swimsuit was the perfect opener to the glitzy girly bonanza, but the standout pieces were Marchesa's super-sweet lavender gown, fash-pack darling Alexander Wang's sparkly bodysuit and Diane von Furstenberg's hot pink wrap dress. Bring on her 60th we say...!
