Sneak peek: Halston goes digital

13 February 2009

We all know that however much those clever ad people try to convince us otherwise, the future's not actually orange, it's digital. And over at Tamara Mellon's new Halston headquarters, they've taken this concept one step further by showcasing their A/W 09 collection in the form of a video. Shunning the runways and exhibition halls of New York, the autumn collection is presented as a series of beautifully composed vignettes brought together by model Dree Hemingway as she roams the Manhattan streets. Despite allegations that the video is a reaction to the current financial climate, Mellon insists that it's been planned since September and is ‘just a way to be inclusive'. She also stresses that the internet is ‘the way of showing fashion into the modern day... Halston was so pioneering in his time, and it's what he would be doing now.' To view the video in full click here, and style kudos to Tamara for choosing the same production company that Lily Allen and Jarvis Cocker have used for their videos! [WWD]
