Yesterday, in the beautiful candlelit surroundings of the amazing Sir John Soane's Museum (Google it, it has to be seen to be believed), our favourite Swedes, ACNE, presented their A/W '09 collection, and debuted their fine jewellery collaboration with designer Michael Zobel.
Inspired by Berlin's art scene and church textiles, the collection is fun and sophisticated at the same time. Perfect asymmetrical silk dresses were showcased next to supple leather jackets and futuristic plastic trousers. The models stood for hours in 17cm platforms and kindly allowed us to touch the fabrics, prod them, photograph them and generally ooh and aah at their outfits and jewellery.
Of course, there are still loads of great jeans and must-have T-shirts, but their A/W collection has lifted ACNE well above any regular jean brand and the jewellery takes them storming into the luxury market.
Our five favourite things about ACNE A/W ‘09
The biker jacket created from furniture fabric – pure luxe
The massive space-age platforms reminiscent of horse's hooves
The masculine black tailored suit
The hand-painted cracked leather gilet
Dreaming of owning the over-sized rough diamond rings (one day)
(and if we were to have six, it would have to be the museum – gorgeous and sophisticated, ideal for ACNE then).
