We know Michelle Obama's thinking carefully about the troubled US economy. She's dressing her kids in high street and her hair stylist won't be jetting in between Chicago and DC every week. So we're not sure how she'll feel about the fact some intrepid reporter in the States has tracked down the price of the Swiss lace Isabel Toledo used to make her lemongrass Inauguration suit. It costs a staggering $500 a yard. Which means that the minimum spend - even if you're teeny tiny (which let's face it a 6 foot plus Mrs O ain't) - is at the very least going to reach the $1,500 mark. Or £1,000 to save you doing the maths. Yikes. Was it worth it? [NY Mag]
