Morning round-up: Victoria's got the X Factor, plus where's Angelina's Oscar?

04 February 2009

Over the snow? Yep, us too. And we never thought we'd say that. So let's get down to business with this morning's news nuggets so you can make out you've been in the office for hours.

Please, please, please let this rumour be true. (See, we even asked really nicely). Victoria Beckham is apparently in ‘advanced talks' to be the next X Factor judge. The reaction of her is-she-isn't-she WAG rival Cheryl Cole is yet to be determined. We feel slightly sorry for Danni Minogue who let's face it might as well have walked off the show as soon as it aired. But Simon Cowell, we salute you. [Daily Mail]

Expect to see a lot more of Jennifer Aniston, too.  She's just been voted the best star in terms of appeal and awareness for advertising campaigns. Reese Witherspoon was second. Does that cheer you up, Jen? [WWD]

This news probably won't help her mood though. Angelina Jolie's so nonchalant about her Oscar win for Girl, Interrupted she's lost the statuette. ‘I didn't actually lose it. But nobody knows where it is at the moment.' Time to start rummaging through the six kids' toy boxes, we say... [The Telegraph]

Talking of awards, JK Rowling wore 5 inch Louboutins to pick up her French Legion of Honour yesterday. Nice. [The Mirror]

And finally, one for the diary. Barbie celebrates her 50th birthday this year with a catwalk show of outfits designed specially for her by Alexander Wang, Calvin Klein, Diane von Furstenberg and Donna Karan. It's on Valentine's Day. Perfect for ‘all you single ladies'. Go on, sing it. [WWD]
