Morning round-up: snow blights London retail – and Lily Allen's hair...

The heaviest snowfall to hit the UK for 18 years cost the economy £3bn as 6 million people took the day off work. Retail was hit especially hard with most of Covent Garden's shops closed for the day by 11.30, giving their staff plenty of time to make killer snowmen in the surrounding area... [WWD]

But Lily Allen makes up for it by being the first star to frolic in the snow. Her white fur hat apparently proved a popular target for stray snowballs. Can't think why. [Daily Mail]

Still, she might have looked like she was having fun on Primrose Hill but spare a thought for Lily's hair. The singer had to do her own hair and make-up for her morning interview with GMTV after her assistants were left stranded by the snow. ‘I've got this greasy fringe,' she wailed... [The Times]
