Models feel the pinch

03 February 2009

They are tall, gorgeous, thin and can walk in any height of heels you throw at them (well, most of them can), but despite those talents, even models aren't escaping the pesky downturn in fortunes – quite literally. Word reaches us that the daily rate the girls receive for their turn on the catwalk has been halved, and that fewer girls are walking.

‘Half price! It's half-price everywhere, in Milan, even in New York,' revealed model Anna Chyzh, who in the past has walked for PPQ, Ben de Lisi and couture shows, and is feeling the pinch of the fashion world.

It is the latest in cost-cutting measures that have affected the industry, but when some girls can demand upwards of £12,000 per show, £6,000 still ain't half bad now, is it?
