Fashion Facebook report!

30 January 2009

Any self-respecting or curious fashionista has a Facebook presence whether official, or hidden under a funny pseudonym. There are eight Marc Jacobs on Facebook, all pretending to be the actual Marc. One of them definitely is the real Marc, who is a self-confessed Facebook addict and prolific with his posting. But which one? The one with whom I have 37 mutual friends, or the one with three mutual friends? One thing is for sure - Marc Jacobs is the most popular designer on Facebook. He has 111,494 officially registered fans. Karl Lagerfeld on the other hand has 37,778; Vivienne Westwood has 35,020 and Miuccia Prada 35. I know, 35. Can't be true can it?  After a couple of quiet weeks, the wheels of fashion were slowly notched up a gear, and most people are now speeding along nicely towards the fashion shows. Designer Chris Brooke, preparing for his A/W '09 Basso & Brooke runway show, puts his status simply as "tense". . Bless. And Kim Jones, the Dunhill creative director, who showed his debut menswear show last week (and can therefore relax) reports he is off to Berlin fashion week. Meanwhile designer Hussein Chalayan, shoe designer Jonathan Kelsey and Pablo Flack of Bistroteque are all reporting on their Grace Jones experience. Ms Jones ends her run at London's Roundhouse tonight. Pablo Flack "thinks Grace Jones achieved with one hula-hoop what Madonna couldn't do with 1000 mirrored crucifixes" and having seen the show, we could not agree more. Also she does more with a bowler hat than one could think possible. Go Grace!  Further news comes from Savannah Miller who is prepping her debut catwalk show the her label Twenty Eight Twelve. She is feeling "sushi and techno". And last but not least our favourite Ladyboy Jodie Harsh is now friends with Nicole Appleton. What could it all mean?
