The buzz currently sweeping through the front rows of the Couture shows in Paris is that Olivier Theyskens has officially left Nina Ricci. The designer has been plagued by rumours of his dismissal for months, but has remained in place until now. Apparently, his latest collection for Nina Ricci was failing to sell, making Theyskens one of the first victims of the credit crunch. He announced only a week ago that he was adding an increased accessories line to Nina Ricci, saying ‘When the economy changes, it's not like you want to start eating bad-tasting chocolate. It's important to study the market and to feel you are right with it. But if I felt we had to start doing simple clothes, I'd be doing them.' No official response to the news as yet.
