Morning round-up: Mrs O's gift to Laura Bush revealed, plus Team Strictly judge First Dance

22 January 2009

Suffering from an Obama come-down this morning? Yep, us too. So here's this morning's need-to-know facts. (Please note: they're not all about the First Couple. Our obsession is slowly diminishing).

It's not just you who's unhappy with Michelle Obama's Isabel Toledo Inauguration outfit. She's in trouble with the Black Artists Association for not wearing an African-American designer in any one of her seven Inauguration outfits. [WWD]

Not that a little bit of dissent matters when you're being touted by the organisers of New York Fashion Week to show up on the front row. Where can we sign the petition to get Michelle Obama to Marc Jacobs? [NY Mag]

And when Team Strictly are judging your First Dance. Arlene gave B&M a five (meanie), Craig Revel Horwood a three (just unnecessary), Bruno a full-house 10 (bless him), whilst Len went for... wait for it… a seven (what else!). We're with Bruno on this one. And reckon At Last's going straight to number one next week. [Times, Mirror, Guardian]

Meanwhile the Inauguration unanswered questions continue to be demystified. Michelle Obama's gift to Laura Bush? A leather-bound journal bearing the date so Laura can begin her memoirs. Very restrained. [The Guardian]

America might gain more than just a new President this month, too. Rumours are Kate Moss is considering relocating to New York to help Jamie's band break The States. [The Mirror]

At least Moss's move would allow fellow model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley to steal her mantel. She's upped the ante on those Kate Moss Agent Provocateur ads by posing in underwear whilst beating up her boyfriend. Nice. [The Independent]
