Mad about the Boys

default

We like to keep our eyes on the boys. Our fashion eyes we mean, of course... This weekend saw menswear fashion week kick off in Milan and already we have been inundated with some A/W ‘09 trends for all the fellas. Up front and centre was David Beckham at the Emporio Armani show, just days after he was photographed shopping with the designer's niece Roberta. Will we see David taking on the snowboarding gear that closed the show? We hope so. Prada kept the colours winter dark and the pieces tailored and elegant - the studded trousers, knitwear and shirting had us hankering for the collection now, after all menswear on women is very 2009. Dolce and Gabbana added brights to their collection in red velvet, fuschia and purple. They also continued their PJ dressing from S/S ‘09 ladieswear in quilted suits - comfy and colourful, the perfect winter wardrobe. There were velvet suits by Burberry Prorsum too, adding opulence to a collection that took it's flat cap off to English dressing of old - clever overcoats, chunkier than chunky knitwear and...genius knitted cumberbands on casualwear (another trend that we will take for ourselves too, thanks Christopher!) We have also seen hourglass coats at Jil Sander, ankle swingers and loafers at Cavalli and cosy shearling at Bottega Veneta.

Next up we are off to Paris for more of the men. We can't wait to see what Kanye West has designed for Louis Vuitton (he has collaborated on a shoe line for the luxe house), and YSL is premiering their collection in a short film starring the wonderful Michael Pitt. Aren't menswear fashion weeks great. If only because they add fuel to our fire that womenswear A/W ‘09 is just around the corner!
