Looks like it's not just London (oh, and Manchester) falling under the Victoria Beckham spell. Her collection's apparently going down remarkably well Stateside too. After she personally launched the 10-piece collection to an intimate crowd of 65 last Friday at Bergdorf Goodman - wearing the BIDART in the true spirit of self-promotion of course - the store has confirmed that half the stock is sold out already. ‘I don't have a doubt in my mind that these special pieces will sell in one day,' said Linda Fargo, Bergdorf's senior VP. ‘Our gals still want the rare and hard-to-find pieces, and especially things that are so flattering and well made. They're sexy but elegant at the same time - a lethal combination for my money.' That'll be music to Victoria's ears no doubt. And fits with her claim that the dresses suit these ‘recessionary times' when women are looking for an investment piece. So does sell-outs here and Stateside success mean you can finally give up the personal PR and stop wearing the dresses yourself, VB? Please? [New York Magazine]
