Following on from his ultra-luxe capsule line the ‘Imperial Collection' that debuted back in September, Joseph Li (the new head of design who trained with Alber Elbaz the master behind Lanvin) has revealed his first full RTW collection for Shanghai Tang. Entitled ‘Dian Fu'- meaning ‘inside/out'- Joseph Li has taken iconic Chinese pieces and reinterpreted them in a modern, unexpected yet striking fashion, symbolising the future direction of the brand. Using a selection of contemporary art prints and neutral shades of stone khaki and dusky rose the collection maintains the colour palette that dominated the catwalks for SS09 though bright pops of colour throughout deliver what we have come to expect from Shanghai Tang over the years. We say bring on the sun!
