Are ripped jeans worth shelling out for?

02 December 2008

Let's face it, the ripped jeans trend has been bouncing on and off the fashion scene for decades now. But AW09 saw a more specific take on this trend that promised to be both super sexy and easy to wear. Slashed from the middle of the thigh all the way down the leg of a black skinny-legged jean (a la Erin Wasson), they look great with a tunic top or an oversized knit. But the question we're asking is should we be whipping out the scissors and getting creative by customizing are own or is it really worth splashing some cash on a designer pair? If our own experience is anything to go by - it will only end in tears. Three things to avoid when ripping your own jeans are: avoid making the actual rips too big and flashing too much flesh, find a flat surface where you can get customizing (ruining your parents silk covered sofas will not go down well) and by no means make rips on the back too close to your derriere (there is a reason why only Pamela Anderson rocks this look). Check out our favourite Ksubi full trashed jeans for the pick of the bunch (£185
