Nicholas Kirkwood wins the BFA 2008 Swarovski Emerging Talent Award for Accessories

26 November 2008

Nicholas Kirkwood (the man who works wonderd with a pair of shoes) has won the Swarovski Emerging Talent Award at last night's British Fashion Awards 2008. The way he translates architecture and structure into wearable statement shoes is second to none and so it's no surprise then that his creations are on the feet of every other fashionista during Fashion Week. After studying as a Cordwainer at Central Saint Martins and designing at Chloe for a time his first full on season saw his shoes grace the catwalks of Basso and Brooke and 3.1 Phillip Lim to name a few. Kirkwood, who is also part of the British Fashion Council's New Gen is critically acclaimed for his clever craftsmanship - and his kickbacked angular platforms are instantly recognisable. Nicholas has been touted as a new Louboutin and now designs shoes for Pollini and most recently you may recognise his collaboration with Rodarte to create jaw droppingly high studded metallic shoes -remember spotting these on Agy back in September?
