Burberry creative director Christopher Bailey topped a stellar year at the BFA's by winning Menswear Designer of the Year. Only a month ago the 37 year old Yorkshire man was awarded the prestigious Honoree in Fashion from the fashion Group International. That's on the back of six super-successful years where his creative directorship has seen sales swell by 46%. This makes Burberry the most popular British luxury fashion brand in the world. 'I love fashion, designing the clothes, I also love architecture. It was the first thing I wanted to be,' he recently told Grazia. 'Whether I'm working on building a new store, fragrance or fashion collection it has to be emotive. But ultimately Burberry is about an attitude. The Burberry girl or guy is about dishevelled elegance, the look is incredibly tailored, fitted and luxurious but in the end it looks thrown on and easy. I don't like things when they get too precious and untouchable. It's got to look touched by life, familiar and reassuring.'
