London got its first taste of Christmas last night as Stella McCartney switched on the lights at her Bruton Street store with friend and comedian Peter Kay. It was meant to be an intimate affair for Stella's friends and family - but as an internationally acclaimed designer whose set includes Kate Moss, her daughter Lila Grace, Laura Bailey, Lulu and Sir Paul McCartney at times the photographer's flashbulbs threatened to overshadow the fabulous Christmas lights themselves. The A-list crowd and their kids got into the festive spirit with candy cane, Christmas cookies, washed down with Charbonnel and Walker Hot Chocolate, champagne and Guinness. Sir Paul McCartney didn't repeat last year's genius of dressing up as Father Christmas but the one-man-band Father Christmas (just who was behind that beard?) entertained the kids running around the place. As for the woman of the night herself? Stella was running late - some said it was because she was in the pirate ship pub across the road from her shop sipping on mulled wine - but made up for it as she whooped and videoed with a mini camcorder Peter Kay's stand-up routine as the lights were switched on. Wouldn't you love to see the other films on that camcorder? Check out the lights and who was there below.
