Katy Perry’s stylist on those show-stopping outfits!

If you've been wondering what the inspiration was behind Katy Perry's crazy wardrobe marathon at last week's MTV awards, we caught up with her stylist Johnny Wujek, the man behind all those outfit changes, to get the lowdown. Our personal favourite was the Manish Arora carousel dress, which Johnny stumbled across on the internet. It proved popular among the other performers: 'It was one of two outfits that had people popping by the dressing room to check out,' said Johnny. The other was, of course, the Obama dress by Jean-Charles de Castelbajac. ‘That was the most talked about dress of the night. It was so amazing she won best new artist in it.' Getting Katy in and out of the costumes was hectic to say the least - Johnny ripped his finger open on her white and gold star dress by the Blondes - and the most difficult costume change was the half-man half woman outfit. ‘Our time change was under two minutes, the outfit was altered twice and still not perfect. We had to sew the back of the dress to the pants right before she ran out,' said Johnny. ‘It was so frantic, painting a mustache, ripping, taping, pinning all in seconds.' Phew! But we have to say all that hard work certainly paid off and it was quite an act to top, especially for a girl only at the beginning of her career. We can't wait to see what she does next!
