LIVE at the CDG for H&M launch!

13 November 2008

Wow. So we might not be quite so fanatical as the Japanese fashionistas but the Brits are still desperate to get a piece for Rei Kawakubo's historic Comme des Garcons for H&M collection. We've just arrived at the Regent street store and queues are snaking around the block with still an hour to go before doors open. With the first in line queuing since 12.30am this morning, many of those who have been queuing the longest are from Asia themselves. And when asked why they were so eager to get their hands on the collection they screamed "It's Comme des Garcons!". Some have bunked off work to be here, fuelling up on Café Nero or Starbucks in the freezing cold, keeping warm by sitting on bits of newspaper and cardboard boxes. As the shop assistants wipe the windows clean and prepare the red ropes to hold back the queues, from a quick straw poll it looks like the most popular item is the white ruffle blouse. More soon....
