Fashion gets nostalgic!

13 November 2008

The recession might be setting in but if we've learnt anything from the round of press days showcasing spring/summer collections, next season there's an all-round determination to see the world through rose tinted glasses - and yes, we mean that literally! From Miu Miu's pink and lilac tinted sunglasses to Topshop's pastel-shaded shoes the colour palette's positively peachy. And somehow it really does help lift your mood. Need convincing? Here's evidence:

- Miss Selfridge deconstructed suede jackets come in various eye-popping colour ways. No wonder we found a ‘Now that's what we call ‘80's' mixed CD lurking at the bottom of the goodie bag. It's like stepping back in time...

- Topshop's ‘Hope and Glory' collection does what it says on the tin. Pretty country florals - we love the hydrangea and English rose prints - conjure up a sense of nostalgia whilst the super-cute union jack bloomers evoke that British post-war spirit.

- Wallis provides a serious injection of citrus shades and opulent detailing. Their luxe orange maxi dresses are top of our holiday wish-list. Already.
