Is this the most star-studded movie ever?

11 November 2008

As far as leading ladies go, it doesn't get much better than Nicole Kidman. Or Penelope Cruz. Kate Hudson takes some beating at the box office, too. So how's this for an A-list movie cast? Not only does new musical Nine star Nicole, Penelope and Kate, it also features living legends Sophia Loren and Judy Dench, plus our favourite newcomer for years, Oscar-winning La Vie en Rose actress Marion Cotillard. In fact the cast is so good we can overlook the fact that Fergie - of ‘My Humps, My Humps, My Lovely Lady Lumps' fame - is also on the bill. Nine tells the story of film director Guido Contini (Daniel Day-Lewis), a man with too many foxy women in his life - including wife Luisa (Cotillard), muse Claudia (Kidman), and mistress Carla (you guessed it, the sultry Ms Cruz!). After feel good hit Mamma Mia whet our appetites for the genre, we can't wait to see another fantastic musical. Given that Nine's director/ choreographer Rob Marshall also directed and choreographed Chicago, this one's almost a guaranteed hit. The bad news is that it doesn't come out until the end of 2009. If this first look picture's anything to go by it will be worth the wait - we're expecting all the sequins, stockings and rivalry of a Strictly Come Dancing final, but with the vital addition of some of the world's finest A-listers. Erm, is it just us, or is that completely amazing?
