Ah, The Designer's Muse... We've seen some just excellent couplings of inspirational beauty and fashion talent in our time: McQueen and Dahl, Agy and Henry, Galliano and Charla Carter, Giles Deacon and, erm, Pac Man... But now it seems that designers are looking a little closer to home when wondering what to base their next collection on. Like, in the mirror.
Is it just us or have Stella Mac, Donatella and Karl gone for runway looks which are, well, exactly the sort of thing they wear every single day? Now, we are not having a moan (how many times have you wished you could just magic up the perfect tux/dress/skinny trews after 6 hours spent wandering up and down Oxford Street flexing nothing but your chuck-clothes-on-the-dressing-room-floor-in-despair muscle), but we do wonder why?
Maybe the answer lies with Karl's last muse, Miss Amy Winehouse -- last December he said, "She is a beautiful, gifted artist. And I very much like her hairdo. I took it as an inspiration. Because, in fact, it was also Brigitte Bardot's hairdo in the late Fifties and Sixties. And now Amy has made it her own style. So, when I saw her, I knew it was the right moment. Amy . . . she is the new Brigitte."
At least when you're your own muse, you can be sure you won't go off the rails...
