Four things we never knew about Michelle Obama's style

10 October 2008

Oh, it's always reassuring to find someone else more obsessive than us. So imagine our joy when we discovered an entire blog dedicated to the world of Michelle Obama's fashion. From her Mario Pinto purple shift dress accessorized with a black Azzedine Alaia belt to choosing young out-there designer Thakoon's floral dress, we're constantly analysing Michelle Obama's style - and what it means on the hotting-up election trail. So, it seems, is the author of Mrs O, a blogger who documents Michelle's every outfit. And while scanning Mrs O's never-seen-before photographs, we came across the following quirky facts about Michelle that we just had to share:

When Michelle finds a dress she loves she buys it in three different colours. She's worn a pleated chiffon number in cerise, mushroom and azure blue.

She has a ‘growing penchant' for ribbon! Tying strips of ribbon as makeshift bow belts and attaching bows to plain shift dresses. Chiconomics to the max, we say!

Her signature styling addition is a combo jewelled brooch. Erickson Beamon's her brooch designer of choice.

Michelle's favourite colours are pinks, purples and greys.

PS - Here's a cute video of Michelle Obama on Jon Stewart's The Daily Show, where she even praised Sarah Palin as an excellent example of how women can juggle work and family.
