Three things you never knew about Kate Moss

03 October 2008

While a 50kg solid 18-carat gold statue of Kate Moss was being unveiled one side of London last night, a book dedicated to the supermodel's style launched the other (you can guess which one we attended). Fashion journalist Angela Buttolph spoke to top buyers, designers, hair-stylists and friends of Kate Moss to examine every detail of the supermodel's trend-setting style for Inside the world's most famous wardrobe: Kate Moss Style. So we caught up with Angela at Amika nightclub last night (brilliantly wearing an Ann Sofie Back dress which was inspired by Kate's ripped vintage Dior dress) to find out four things she discovered about Kate Moss whilst writing the book:
1. Kate's got size three feet. In fact, she's so much smaller than a traditional supermodel Karl Lagerfeld had to put block ‘implants' in her shoes to make her taller!
2. Long-standing friend and A-list hairdresser James Brown chooses a large proportion of Kate's clothes. Or as one designer put it: ‘James basically rules Kate's style.'
3. Kate never wears underwear.
4. The supermodel has literally thousands of LBDs. Several vintage dealers told me she's bought up to 200 LBDs from them over the years. She keeps all her clothes in the attic in her Gloucestershire house.
Despite spending months surrounded by pictures of Kate and talking about her constantly, Angela also told us she admires her style even more than she did at the start. ‘And that says something really doesn't it?' So what's her favourite Kate look of all time? ‘The blue floor-length sequinned gown she wore to her 30th birthday. I always loved it but then I found out it was originally owned by Britt Ekland. That made it.'
Check out and rate our top 10 Kate Moss looks from over the years. Plus find out what Kate's friends Kelly Osbourne, Daisy Lowe and Alice Dellal had to say about her style at last night's book launch.
