Chanel S/S ‘09: The waiting lists will grow…

03 October 2008

Late last night we were a massive Grand Palais venue for YSL. A mere 11 hours later we were back and the cathedral height space had been transformed into Chanel street. A five story high backdrop of the famous Rue Cambon headquarters stood at the top of the runway which was laid out like a road with the audience sitting on the pavement either side.

To the sing-along sounds of Madness's Our House the models shows the new S/S ‘09 collection which was full of Chanel greats reworked to tempt the credit cards out of the most wary wallets. The classic Chanel jersey suit was stamped with a random glossy check. A soft tweed jacket was fastened with a looping jet fob chain. A simple black skirt suit was super chic with white collar and turned back cuffs. A sequinned white shift had a sparkling black sequin grid overdress. And flamingo frilled skirts, rose strewn cropped jackets high waisted skinny pants and matador boleros finished the show. We can feel the waiting lists building already for the leather Chanel carriers (a new take on the everlasting shopping bag). And the upended 2.55 bag. It was a fabulous feel good moment.
