The most intriguing rumour of Paris FW

default

Is she, or is she not? We can't help but feel terribly sorry for Alessandra Fachinetti facing down the rumours currently circulating in the blogsphere that she is about to lose her job - with her show only 48 hours away. The Valentino office and their British PR flatly deny. And the office of Giambattista Valli (her rumoured successor) laughed out loud and said they knew nothing about it. Alessandra has had one very respectable season at Valentino, making her debut last September, only two months after the great man had retired. She delivered a look that was both respectful of the house's heritage and full of promise of more of the Facchinetti vision for Valentino to come. This was followed by a rave couture collection in January. She's a talented woman and we know she'll be handling it but it can't be easy given that, her last big designer job, as successor to Tom Ford, lasted only one season before she was ousted in favour of colleague, Frida Giannini. But fashion loves a rumour, almost more than a new look. And stories run through the front rows faster than a virus at this time of the year. Have a heart bloggers! Watch this space for front row feedback from Valentino on Friday.
