Corto Moltedo probably isn't a name you instantly recognise. But it's not some Italian castle or the latest A-list beach resort - he's the hottest new secret bag designer. Secret you say? Yep. ‘It' bags are totally over, now it's all about the quiet ones (read this week's Grazia for 37 of our favourites) that don't have to scream ‘I'm fashion forward' to be it. Well, Corto Moltedo's bags are just that. Described as pop-luxe chic the bags are designed by Gabrielecorto Moltedo, son of the Bottega Veneta founders Laura and Vittorio Moltedo. He's obviously learnt the trade well because his attention to detail, use of exotic skins and really wearable shapes make a Corto bag truly a bag for life. (Don't believe us? Naomi Campbell and Madonna love him too). So now the secret's out, get down to his just-opened first flagship store in the Jardins du Palais Royal, Paris. ‘I would often walk through the gardens and fell under the charm and elegance of the area, vowing one day to open my first boutique here,' Gabriele divulged today. But what about if you're not at Paris FW? Well the 60-strong collection is stocked at Browns and Joseph and perhaps we might even have our own store here, too. ‘I always bear my British friends in mind when I design my new collection. I love the attitude of the London girl, and I think she fits perfectly with the spirit of our brand. As for opening one of our own stores there? One day, for sure...' No wonder he snapped up Charlotte and Alice Dellal to model for his S/S ‘08 campaign then!
