With his cornet-shaped silhouette, signature geometric prints (each layer of organza was individually printed) and decision to show in four modern-feeling 15 minute slots Jonathan Saunders' collection for Pollini was one of the star-attractions from Milan Fashion Week. Yesterday we caught up with the other British star behind the collection, Nicholas Kirkwood, to find out what went on behind the scenes and the inspiration behind his suede high-heeled loafers and patent shooboots. ‘Jonathan wanted a look that was provocative, feminine, chic, and modern with a touch of eccentricity,' he told Grazia Daily exclusively. ‘I wanted to reference Pollini's artisan history and therefore I didn't want to design shoes with a towering heel and platform. Jonathan and I felt it would be more fresh and luxe without them.' And it sure worked. From the rapturous reception Jonathan Saunder's Pollini collection received we think these Brits might be making it big in Milan for a few more seasons too. Check out the key looks - and the shoes - below.
