Bring on Paris Fashion Week...

default

So Milan's over for another season and we're onto the last in our leg of fashion weeks, Paris. One of the hottest talking points and the show we're really looking forward to is the debut of British designer Gareth Pugh tomorrow. The Parisian fashion capital is all about big bucks, big business and a burgeoning bottom line. So we can't wait to see how they will react to the force of nature that is this young Sunderland born designer. Thanks to a 150,000 euro cash injection from the prestigious ANDAM award, a coveted place in the Paris schedule and graduation to the big time is now his. And beyond that there is the promise of mentoring from big industry hitters such as LVMH and Swarowski. What can the audience expect? Well, if you haven't seen a Gareth Pugh show, you can only prepare to be amazed. This is old school fashion meets performance art: consider the energy of early Westwood/ Galliano/Mc Queen, a dash Leigh Bowery and an underpinning of theatrical bravura and you (sort of) have it. In these cash strapped times, this is just what the schedule needs: the kind of heady rush you get from some good old fashioned fearless creativity. Can't wait. And we'll be there - and in Paris all week - reporting live so check back then.
