The Grazia girls finished off a full schedule of fashion fabulousness yesterday with a gorgeous dinner at the home of Angela Missoni. Getting a glimpse of the inside of a designer's home is a real key to their catwalk thinking and the eclectic collection of classic 1970's cocoon chairs, vast glass dining table and lacquered furniture really resonated with the glamorous retro-modernist references on the catwalk. Three generations of the Missoni family hosted the supper of mushroom risotto, grilled prawns and huge platters of fresh fruit. Angela, creative director and designer of the house; Tai and Rosita, her mother and father and founders of the 40 year old business; and her daughter Teresa. Rosita, was bubbling with excitement about her latest Missoni project. Having retired from the catwalk ten years ago, she has been busying herself with the Missoni home collection. Her most recent achievement (at 76 years old) is the design of the first ever Missoni hotel, due to open in Edinburgh in May 09. She's just back from a trip to oversee design work and a meeting about the menu with the hotel's newly appointed chef (ex Locanda Locatelli). Another reason for a weekend escape north of the border! We can't wait! Those of us in search of a Missoni fix, down south, will have to console ourselves with the opening of the first ever British stand alone Missoni store. Check it out in Sloane St later this year: just in time for Christmas shopping. Hurray! PS: excuse the somewhat blurry picture. Camera - not champagne - induced, we promise!
