‘There were 40 shades of blue in this collection!' beamed Aquascutum's designer Michael Herz when we collared him backstage an hour ago, just after the show's finale. It sure was a blue moment - cornflower, cobalt, sky, delphinium, blue bottle, petrol, electric, navy and more. The way Herz and design partner Graeme Fidler whipped up their Rhapsody in Blue made us think of so many places we could wear these clothes. We imagined striding up a sun-washed Regent Street in an Aquascutum trench dress in cobalt duchesse satin at the front and dark blue georgette at the back. And then attending a British summer wedding in a navy lace shirt dress with pleated sleeves, or joining a cocktail party in Florence in a silk cobalt dress with a cascading ruffle snaking down one side. ‘This was about looking at things with a fresh perspective. About clothes women want to wear. What you all want to wear,' said Herz. We couldn't agree more!
