Naomi Campbell once said black models ‘just don't get picked'. Well, perhaps the white-girl dominated industry is about to change. Parisian designer Sophie Theallet has caused a stir in New York this week by choosing to send only black models down her catwalk. Kinée Diouf, Honorine Uwera and Ataui Deng were just some of the names Sophie chose to showcase her vibrantly coloured designs. Her fashion statement follows Italian Vogue's ‘All Black Issue' which sold out and was reprinted in lightening speed this summer. Jourdan Dunn's star is also rising. Last season, she was the first black model in a decade to walk for Prada and this season she's already walked in 14 shows - and fashion month's only six days in.
