Meet Mulberry's 'Mitzi' (oh and Emma Hill)

 default

When the lovely designer Stuart Vevers left Mulberry for Loewe last year we clutched our Mabel handbags ever closer....Could a new designer match him for creating iconic bags with Brit Girl panache? Well team Grazia popped into Mulberry HQ to get a personal walk-thru of their new Spring 2009 collection and meet their new designer and we're happy to report that there is such a body - step forward Emma Hill. This British accessory designer lived in New York for 15 years and worked for Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs and Gap before coming home to London and taking over at Mulberry five months ago. And are we glad she did, and - it sounds like - so is she.  "I'm a woman that understands what a girl wants from a bag," she told us with a grin as she played with zips and poppers on her new collection of bags, shoes, and clothes for Spring 2009.  There are roomy handbags and stack heeled shoes in a juicy shade of coral pink I haven't seen since my dinner lady sported it back in the early '90's. And keep your eyes peeled for the Mitzi (as pictured above). That's the bag I've got my heart set on - and only in dinner-lady pink! We're not going to give too much away just yet, but we are totally into it.  So watch this space!
