Keira Knightley rules the red carpet

default

Usually at London premieres we're forced to wait patiently as reality-TV wannabes work the red carpet, before the star of the show makes her entrance at the very last minute. But not at last night's premiere of The Duchess. A very un-diva-esque Keira Knightley arrived bang on time and - smiling and visibly excited to be there - spent a good hour signing autographs for fans and chatting to other guests. She'd chosen to wear a dress by little-known French couturier Alexis Mabille, teamed with Chanel fine jewellery and Moschino patent shoes, but told Grazia it had taken her only an hour to get ready. Oh, and that she was ‘bloody freezing'! Standing sweetly alongside her boyfriend, Rupert Friend, and mum, she also confessed she was nervous about seeing the film. ‘I'm going to watch it but I hate seeing myself on screen.' As for the period costumes? 'Not very comfortable but incredibly beautiful!' Keira told us. It looked like Keira's new Moschino shoes hadn't been worn in enough to be comfortable, either. We spied her slipping them off before she hit the dance floor with Rupert at the after-party in the appropriately grand Foreign & Commonwealth Office building, Durbar Court. (See picture below)

Apart from Keira and the other stars of the film including Ralph Fiennes, Dominic Cooper and Anna Popplewell, very few of London's A-list crowd turned up for the event. Sore heads from the GQ Awards the night before perhaps? The only fashionistas of note: Camilla Rutherford looking beautiful in a floral gown (we're finding out where it's from) and Tara Palmer Tomkinson, who told us she was really looking forward to the film. ‘Well she was a saucy socialite so I think I'll quite enjoy it.' Genius! What did you think of the red-carpet looks?  Let us know below.
