If Guy Richie and Madonna were nervous about their first official public appearance since the rumours of their marriage being on the rocks began, it didn't show. In fact, for a while, we were left wondering if Madonna was going to show up at the premiere of Guy's new film RocknRolla at all, as Guy arrived solo. Still, perhaps it was a deliberate strategy to give him time to work the red carpet alone, signing autographs, giving interviews and joking about the British weather. Sounding like any other vaguely irritated/amused husband, Guy told Grazia it always took his wife longer than expected to get ready. But then, just as the crowds were beginning to appear disgruntled, a black limousine pulled up and Madonna finally made her grand entrance - almost an hour after she was due. It was worth the wait. Guy met his missus - wearing a bejewelled Stella McCartney gown - at the car door and, with the rest of the cast seated in the cinema, the couple made their way down the red carpet like royalty, arm-in-arm waving for photographers and the screaming crowds. As they passed me, they were joking, laughing and whispering in each other's ears unselfconsciously. In fact, Madonna talked to hardly anyone except her husband all night. We watched Guy make a speech in front of his co-stars Thandie Newton and Gerard Butler, before sneaking off for dinner (we assume) and whistlestop appearance at the super-exclusive afterparty at Almada private members club. In short - a serious show of unity from the A-list couple.
