As fashion month grinds to a halt, Paris now seems like a distant memory, but the abundance of accessories shown on the runways during the chicest of fashion weeks will already be creating waiting lists. From Chanel’s backpacks inspired by modern art to Stella McCartney’s must have sunglasses there was plenty of promise that beyond the upcoming dark winter months, there was some serious light at the end of the tunnel!
There was a return to matchy-matchy, the late 1990s fashion ideal of making sure your handbag was the exact colour or pattern of your outfit. At Stella McCartney oversized printed clutches in the exact print of the dresses and separates were in abundance and out of the car crash at Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci models strutted down the runway in their sequin dresses teamed with small sequin clutches in the exact same hues.

Givenchy’s East meets Africa inspired collection also gave us some of the most lust worthy footwear of the week, namely with their oversized buckle sandals. Whilst we are currently fully immersed in the quest for the perfect winter boot, it’s hard not to be swept away with the sandals that are coming at us for next Spring Summer, especially with Celine’s rope sandals.
Chanel, the alter of accessories, cladded the models in multiple bags from new versions of the Boy Brick (which was initially popularised in Spring Summer 2012) with faded graffiti effects, to new shopper bags and backpacks. You can never have too many Chanel bags after all. Alongside the multitude of bags was a new approach to the Chanel favourite the pearl, instead of appearing in multiple strands, pearls appeared as singular large entities on futuristic modern metal neck cuffs. Their sunglasses were also turning heads, with flip down visors attached to sunnies, creating something oh so practical for those summer days on the beach. *Mentally transporting ourselves now*

Off the runway, on multiple show room appointments, we revisited what will become one of the most coveted accessories next season, Prozena Schouler’s hard metal clutches, futuristic fashion at its finest! Of course, Roger Vivier delivered some refined elegance with their lady like shoes and bags which will compliment Miu Miu’s goods.
Of course it wouldn’t be Paris Fashion Week without the occasional item which pushed the boundaries and this season it was definitely Lanvin’s black clutches. But whatever your accessory preference the conclusion is universal: Paris has simply spoilt us, once again.
