Paris Fashion Week sparks into action today and while you already know the things we're looking forward to - from Tuilieries fashion spotting to Celine's latest must-have and, of course, steak frites - it's the catwalk spectaculars that really get us giddy. And no one does it better than Chanel.
Last season, Karl Lagerfeld quite literally took his audience around the world when he brought a ginormous globe into the Grand Palais for the Autumn Winter 2012 show. We've also seen icebergs, wind turbines and an actual barn yard when a singing Lily Allen appeared from between the hay bales, so we can't even BEGIN to imagine what the Kaiser will whip us this time.
What we do have for your beady eyes is a first look at the invite to the Chanel show, which takes place on Tuesday 1st October - that's less than one week, FROW fans! So what does it tell us? Well, alongside the iconic Chanel stamp is the word 'Art' written in fancy red writing and, umm, that's it.
Could this mean the catwalk will be transformed into an art gallery? Will the models be turned into works of art with Gaga-tastic makeup? It's no secret that Monsieur Lagerfeld is a huge art fan, often popping up at the Art Basel festival better known as 'the Olympics of the Art World'. BUT, in true outspoken style, he's dismissed the notion that fashion is art. Speaking to the Telegraph, the designer said, "I am against museums and exhibitions in fashion. One woman said to me — ‘In my world, the world of art’ — so I said: ‘Oh, don’t you make dresses anymore?’ A thin smile and then: ‘If you call yourself an artist, then you are second-rate.’”
For now, we're sworn to secrecy about the secret behind the invite, but all the answers will be revealed right here next week as Grazia Daily has teamed up with the Parisian brand to bring you an all-round view of the happenings backstage as part of Fashion Week 360. Time to get excited! In the meantime, check out some of the best ever Chanel invites in the gallery below...
