Model Style At New York Fashion Week: Karlie Kloss, Jourdan Dunn & More

12 September 2013 by

The FROW at New York Fashion Week is the definition of glossy. You have Olivia Palermo and her ridiculously shiny locks, Anna Wintour in tailored tweed and an army of stiletto-clad women in black. Casual it ain't. But the models have to dash between shows where they are squeezed into outlandish creations so comfort is key. But that doesn't mean they aren't street style fodder.

This season's NY off-duty look is all about leather and crop tops. Oh and killer Nikes; a model has to have those. Like any New York Fashion Week, the backstage area is also an advert for denim on denim, backpacks and creepers. We reckon these girls grew up singing along to the Clueless anthem 'Supermodel' ... 'Everyone is going to dress like me, wait and see, when I'm a supermodel!' Cher Horowitz is still a style icon in NY, as models are rocking knee highs and 90s staples.

Hanne Gaby Odiele is our 90s style icon this fashion week, rocking vintage Anna Sui, boyfriend jeans, quilted bombers and white high tops. She's so totally buggin'!

Model of the moment Karlie Kloss has been spotted in shorts, a black knit and the fashion week must-have, black out sunnies. Karls also shows that models have brains by tucking a copy of the Wall Street Journal in her tote. But it was her Frame denim flares which made us gasp - those legs! Her BFF4L Jourdan Dunn looks fierce in ripped denim cut-offs and a slush puppy sweatshirt which can be yours for under £30.

Top marks for the girl wearing the monochrome Goofy (as in the Disney character) jumper; talk about back to cool. The lady in a black cropped knit, leather jogging bottoms and leopard pumps who looks like a fierce ballerina also goes to the top of the class. But we fear you have to be at least 5'9 to pull off that tricky combo.
