Model Karolina Kurkova New York Fashion Week Interview

The last time we saw Karolina Kurkova on a New York runway was a whole year ago at the Zac Posen show (crazy, we know) so what a treat to spot her backstage at the Michael Kors show this morning. The blonde beauty has been busy mentoring upcoming models on The Face alongside Naomi Campbell and let’s not forget she’s mother to a young son too.

It means Karolina is very selective about the shows she does, but she couldn’t say no to MK. ‘I've worked with Michael for 14 years and he’s still super fun and so talented,’ Karolina says of the designer. ‘He likes girls to be themselves and isn’t afraid to goof around with us.’

So how does she cope with being a working mum at fashion week? ‘I have to be organised with my time and do things that really mean something and are important. I look at the situation from a different perspective, like whether my son can travel with us [Karolina is married to Archie Drury]. He's just started school so it’s best to keep him with his friends but we also want him to be with us. He has seen most of the world already!’

Speaking of important projects, KK hints that there’s another TV role in the pipeline. ‘I'm not working on The Face any more but I might be doing something else. I can't what it is yet...’ What a tease!

And let’s not forget Karolina has already got a few acting roles under her belt. The 29-year-old model made her silver screen cameo in 2007 when she starred alongside Amber Valetta in ‘My Sexiest Year’ before bagging a part in ‘G.I. Joe’ with Channing Tatum and Sienna Miller two years later.

‘I really enjoy it,’ she says of acting. ‘It's not something I'm focused on right now but I have studied with an acting coach in New York and I went to Rada for a summer.’ Yep, this is one talented lady. ‘I like to have a versatile career and try different challenges. I love fashion and designing but I also love movies and TV so let's see where life's going to take me.’ Consider us on the edge of our seats.
