We snuck backstage and bagged an interview with the designers but our Fashion Week 360 coverage of the Dolce & Gabbana show wouldn't be the same without one vital ingredient: Anna Dello Russo. The fashion maven is not only Milan Fashion Week royalty with a wonderfully wacktacular sense of style, but she's also a close friend of Domenico and Stefano's - you may remember the trio enjoyed a seriously fabulous holiday this summer. So it's little wonder Anna has become the perfect mascot to showcase the designers' creations on and off the FROW, or even on a jog.
'A Dolce & Gabbana show is more like a movie,' Vogue Japan's editor-at-large raved when we spotted her at the show today. 'The designers invent a script and make a fairytale that's full of beauty and emotion. They always put heart and passion into their collections so it becomes an intense experience.'
Anna was sitting on the front row alongside both Biancas - Bianca Balti and Bianca Brandolini d’Adda - and looked divine in a white lace thigh-skimming shift dress covered in glistening embellishments with a matching bag. The look was topped off with gold strappy sandals, layers of bracelets and a gold headband in her poker-straight hair. Does it take a long time to plan such an almighty outfit?
'No way! It's not an effort, I just enjoy it sooo much,' Anna insists in her sing-song Italian accent. In fact, she's so relaxed about FROW dressing that she laughs off criticism for rewearing a Miu Miu dress earlier this week. 'I first wore it 10 years ago, it's part of my archive,' she explains. 'Bloggers are already putting the two pictures together like, "Look at her then and now". But I wanted to wear it again because it relates to the Prada show. It made sense in my mind at least!'.
Her fashion week wardrobe might be a doddle, but Anna confesses to putting in a great deal of effort when it comes to her dressing up box. 'A lot of work goes into costumes, you cannot believe! I'm obsessed by fashion, but even more when I'm invited to a costume party because I like to research the story behind an outfit. It's like doing a magazine editorial on myself!' Well, quite. Who could forget when ADR turned up at Dolce & Gabbana's masked ball in July wearing a giant boat on her head? 'Stefano told me a few months before that I had to wear it and, oh, Mamma Mia!' As ever, she pulled it off with a-plomb.
So we've seen Anna dressed up as everyone from Marie Antoinette to Lady Gaga, but is there a guise she'd still love to try? 'I like music stars so much and they influence my style a lot. Rihanna, Madonna, Beyonce, Azealia Banks… I also like what this little girl is doing, her name is Millie Seris?' Ah yes, Miley Cyrus and her scantily-clad twerking has the whole world talking, including ADR.

So what outfits would Anna pick if she got her mitts on Miley? 'She looks pretty good naked! I love her body,' she trills. 'I love that mouse outfit she wore on MTV. I like people taking a risk and music is the best for that.' Does this mean ADR would like to venture further into the music world? 'Yes, my wish is to be a rock star!' Now that we would LOVE to see.
As for her days of designing with H&M, Anna says it was 'a nice experience because I was a part of the process, but it was for a specific shop.' She now hopes to work on collaborations across different platforms because 'that's the future'. 'It's not about having fashion in one little space any more,' she says. 'On my blog, I experiment with different expressions like videos or illustrations. We're so lucky to be part of a new era and no one knows where we're going which makes it even more exciting.' Never a truer word, ADR.
