The Fashion Week sidewalks provide just as much visual entertainment as the runways themselves. The start of Milan has offered a variety of looks of and this Shopping Fix makes them yours for the taking!
A classic go-to for many editors - whose eyes are on the runway prize, rather than trying to be noticed (for anything other than their chic understated-ness that is) - is tailoring. With some simple wardrobe staples you can look smart, chic, effortless but powerful. Emmanuel Alt is always seen in trousers and jeans, silk blouses of the white and khaki variety, and loves a military jacket or blazer. The ever-flamboyant Anna Dello Russo adopted two different tux looks already this week (mind you, she does change outfits for every show) and we can show you how to do it too.
Another fashionista’s look is the bonkers look. It’s a bit OTT: bold prints, bright colours – a lot of clashing and piles of jewellery. Anna Wintour has been sporting a lot of Prada gingham at both LFW and MFW – an obviously pared down take on the bright print trend.
It’s not just about fashion editors, of course, the FROW is always awash with A-Lister celebs too. Their approach is usually less directional (unless you’re GaGa); sexy and devastatingly beautiful tends to be the choice du jour. We’ve already spotted campaign face, Blake Lively at the Gucci show in a slinky leather mustard dress. Whilst Rosie Huntington Whitely was spotted in this sexy Ermanno Scervino slip – an elegant take on the current, punkish lingerie trend.
The off-duty model look is another we like to dissect over fashion week. We’ve already spotted Joan Smalls dashing about in a practical but totally cool Tom-Boyish look. Think leathers, mannish shoes (but team with something cute and young like these ripped denim shorts).
