The cheesy chat-up lines. The bum-pinching. The walk of shame. All familiar? Thought so. All too familiar according to these girls who, along with American director Jay Diaz, made this short film about the clichéd gender roles that can be found playing out in many of your local bars.
Just for LOLs, The Flip Side (Bar) sees women take on the stereotypes associated with men on the prowl and vice versa. So, the men are shown as dismissive, sometimes emotional wrecks, sometimes victims of the ‘walk of shame’, whilst the dastardly (and mega hot) women ply them with drinks, desperately try to seduce them - bum pinch anyone? – and kindly offer to call a cab after a one night stand.
The upside? It’s pretty funny. Does it reinforce gender stereotypes even further? Probably. Yet, it has become an online sensation, with more than 2.2million hits already.
Our highlights include the line ‘It’s a taco fest in here’ (nice), and the morning after scene. Particularly the final scene where we see a guy leave his heels trainers off to face the walk of shame.
