Sochi Opening Ceremony

The anticipation is over - the Winter Olympics 2014 in Sochi is finally here. And what an opening week it's been so far: from disgruntled journalists tweeting hilarious pictures of their less-than ideal hotel rooms (try upside down toilet seats, holes in ceilings and tap water that runs straight from the toilet) to Jenny Jones taking her place on the podium to collect Team GB's first ever medal on snow. The reports from Mother Russia are coming thick and fast - but if you want a peak behind the scenes, get your Instagram on. Here's our pick of the best accounts to follow during the Games:

1. Jenny Jones. (No-brainer.)

She's the snowboarder who has taken Sochi 2014 by storm already, winning bronze in the women's snowboard slopestyle and making British history. She's also achingly cool about it.

2. Team GB

From Olympic ring-themed manicures to candid celebration shots, follow these guys for the official behind the scenes low-down.

3. Belle Brockhoff

Not only is she really - no, REALLY - good at her event, snowboard cross, but she also came out publically as a direct response to Russia's anti-gay propaganda, and now she's standing up for the rights of LGBT athletes on a global scale. And she posts videos like this to Instas.

4. Lolo Jones

You may remember her from the summer Olympics when she hot-footed it down the hurdles track. Now she's back - on ice. After being recruited following London 2012, she's now a fully-fledged member of the bobsled team and loving it. Follow now please.

5. Johnny Quinn

Is it a(n angry) bird? A plane? Is it THE HULK? No, it's US bobsledder Johnny Quinn smashing through his bathroom door with nothing more than his bare hands. What a man, and what an Instagram account.

6. Brother and sister Havard and Hege Bokko

They're Norweigan speed-skaters. Who are, with reference to the pictoral evidence below, awesome.

7. Jamie Anderson

Jamie's snowboarding profile will make you dizzy - literally. Her GoPro headcam videos and beautiful action shots are a must-see.

8. Julia Mancuso

As a seasoned Olympic medallist (she won gold in the giant slalom at the 2006 Winter Olympics, and silver in both the downhill and combined at 2010 Winter Olympics), Julia knows the ropes. And posts absolute corkers like this.

9. Charlotte Gilmartin

Our very own Team GB speed skater has given us insider peeks into how competitors use their down time in Sochi (more competing in the games room by all accounts) and this absolute gem of the Opening Ceremony - from an athlete's perspective. Brilliant.

10. Jamie Greubel

She does this:
