Today a courageous Angelina Jolie spoke out in an letter revealing that she has undergone a double mastectomy after finding out that her risk of contracting breast cancer was 87%. In the empowering letter she revealed that she took the decision for herself and her family, revealing how she herself at struggled with the disease after losing her Mother at just 56. Angelina is not the first celebrity to open up about their experiences with the disease, these people have also been pretty inspirational…

American presenter Giuliana Rancic announced in an interview in October 2011 that she had been diagnosed with the early stages of breast cancer, in December 2011 she revealed that she had undergone a double mastectomy. She said of her descicion to go public, ‘I've been keeping this secret from a lot of dear friends for a while now and it's nice to get it out there and not hide anymore.’ She went on to say, ‘I started realizing I could be an example for women to not just be aware of breast cancer but to act on it. To make an appointment, to give themselves an exam. Because truly, the bottom line is, the earlier you find it, the better chance you have of survival.’

Kylie was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005, she was treated in Melbourne undergoing chemotherapy, which she described as being like ‘experiencing a nuclear bomb.’ When Kylie spoke out about her experience it encouraged hundreds of people to go and get themselves checked out. She said of her difficulties with the disease, ’Sometimes when people say 'be positive' you can't be positive all the time.’

Actor Michael Douglas was diagnosed with throat cancer in January 2011, however, just this week he spoke out about how it had been missed twice. Michael reveals that dealing with the disease for him was about taking the rough with the smooth, ‘That’s life. Things had been going good for me for a long time. I was ready for some karmic retribution.’

Actually, the health services in most countries around the world reckon that the total unpresidented "extra" tests total more than 3.7 million directly due to the "Kylie effect" as Australian doctors called it. They simply couldn't cope... Come on guys. Don't be so deliberately ungracious. Shame.
