Dictator’s Daughter Does The Downward Dog – And Other Inappropriate Tweets…

23 November 2012 by

She’s already been voted the most hated woman in Uzbekistan once before. And now Gulnara Karimova, the uber glam daughter of one of Central Asia’s most brutal dictators, Islam Karimova, has managed to offend again. This time, she took to Twitter to show off her best yoga moves – showing off her enviable legs in a series of seemingly suggestive poses. And it didn’t go down well…

The snaps greatly offended the Muslim community of Uzbekistan, who ‘were offended by her skimpy workout clothes and the prurient nature of the yoga poses, which they said overstepped the boundaries of propriety.’ Gulnara, 40, who is also a singer in Uzbekistan under the pseudonym GooGoosha (snappy), used to be a fashion designer – until she was kicked out of New York Fashion Week last year after human rights activists complained. Awks. This stunt was thought to be an attempt by her to improve her public image in case she one day takes over running the country from her 74-year-old father. Hashtag: fail.

But, Gulnara is not the only one to make a bit of a twit of herself online. This week, Susan Boyle’s PR company made a grave but highly amusing error when they tried to promote her new album on the social networking site using the hastag #Susanalbumparty. (Childish, but still hilaire.)

And who could forget Justin Bieber’s admission that he feels ‘like the Kurt Cobain of my generation, but people just don’t understand me.’ Erm, Smells Like Teen Ego-Overload to us. Somebody tell him who Kurt Cobain is. Please.

It’s unlike Chris Brown to be aggressive, but he was quick to tweet this humble musing after facing backlash for his Grammy award: ‘@ChrisBrown: “HATE ALL U WANT BECUZ I GOT A GRAMMY Now! That’s the ultimate F**K OFF!” Nice, Chris. Surprisingly, he deleted his obscene outburst when he spotted #chrisbrownbeatswomen trending. Sadly, he didn’t learn – this was just one of many massive Twitter fails from the singer, who has since deleted his account and reactivated it again around one gazillion times in the last year.

In 2010, Paris Hilton claimed that a beaut of a Chanel purse wasn’t hers after she was caught with cocaine inside it. Great, until it was realised that she’d tweeted a picture of it, including the text ‘I love my new little Chanel purse I got today :)’ underneath it. Awks.

Ed Miliband couldn’t have got it more wrong when he Tweeted this following the sad death of Blockbusters presenter Bob Holness. ‘Sad to hear Bob Holness died. A generation will remember him fondly from Blackbusters.’

And of course, there are the Twitter spats. Chantelle Houghton and Alex Reid have committed so many Twitter faux-pas’ that, frankly, they should probably be banned from using it. Just one of Chantelle’s personal rants included: '… I found text messages on Alex's phone when she was 6 weeks old, it was to a man and he was arranging to meet up with him as Roxanne for sex.

'It wasn't the first time either. So yeah I'm in hell right now but who wouldn't be.

'Oh and yes when I was 8 months pregnant Alex turned my house into a sex dungeon and I slept on my flat floor for days...Cos I couldn't come home. (sic)' Ouch.
