Not all festivals are about music. Of course, the majority are, but being well-rounded cultural types like ourselves, we like to think that there is life beyond the Edinburgh festival.
Comedy is always a choice alternative to live music, and an excellent starting point is the brand new The Comedy Hullabaloo – which takes place over May bank holiday (23/24/25/26)
This four day ‘do’ takes place in Stratford upon Avon, and – added bonus – you’re almost always within spitting distance of the river.
The line-up includes the big guns of comedy - Al Murray (above), Ed Byrne, Sandi Toksvig, Milton Jones, Mark Watson, Danny Bhoy, Doc Brown – and they’ll be talking in some of that area’s loveliest venues, including the Royal Shakespeare Company's courtyard theatre, Stratford Upon Avon Boat club, the beautiful Idolize Spiegeltent by the river Avon and the historic Swan's Next Hotel.
What’s more, we have a pair of 'golden tickets' to give away! So as many shows as you can possibly cram in, over the Thurs and Friday, and one night Dinner, Bed and Breakfast for two at The Arden Hotel, Stratford Upon Avon http://www.theardenhotelstratford.com on Thursday 23 May.
To enter, email firstname.lastname@example.org and tell me a joke. The funniest one wins.
You just have to get yourselves to and from the festival itself – go to www.comedyhullabaloo.com for more details.
