Georgia LA Introduces You To The New Series Of 'The Fox Problem': EXCLUSIVE

04 February 2014 by

So today The Fox Problem powered by HP is happening. It’s a brand new kind of online entertainment chat and music show produced and presented by Georgia LA, Gemma Cairney and Georgie Okell. Here's Georgia herself to fill us in...

It all started when we I met Georgie Okell (ex T4, now taking over Alexa Chung’s job at Fuse news in NYC) at Gemma’s Oxfam jumble sale. We bonded over weird books and bemoaned the lack of young women we could relate to on the box, imagining what it would be like if we made and produced a show we wanted to watch, on our own terms. One that was girly, but geeky and thought-provoking enough for her to talk about dinosaurs and fancying girls and me about fanny tingles and my obsession with hackers and technological revolutions I read about in Wired.

A place to invite our fave talented people, and perhaps even admit to some of the normal day-to-day stuff that proper telly glazes over - like actually sometimes Instagram makes me feel bad about myself and I don't spring out of bed and don matching underwear every morning. Originally christening the show the Lady Garden (...err yeah I’m glad we didn’t go with that either!), early quests included recording Rizzle Kicks and Jessie J on iphones saying they couldn’t wait to get into it! Saving those badboys on my computer for some lols later in the series…

We knew we needed a third legend to unite the tripod, and somehow persuaded Radio 1’s Gemma Cairney to come with us on what has been a ridiculous but great foxy mission. We pimped it out to traditional TV routes but found a home with like minded social production company Telegraph Hill, who (thank the lord) believed in our madness. Together (and with a bit of help from well placed zealots) we put in our hard earned cash, and somehow broadcast series 1 from above a freezing east London pub (thanks for coming down guys! Nb can we hyperlink this to when they did behind the scenes on series 1). With a tiny team and shoestring budget, we pooled our contacts and begged our mates to come play (most acts were booked from the pub 48 hours earlier) pulling in a hell of alot of favours…

This time round we’re powered by the technological revolutions of HP and shit has got real. We have an awesome foxy team, are setting our sights on guests like Yoko Ono (think big right?! Watch this space) and have an awesome new Shoreditch location. Broadcasting live fornightly, and releasing videos in between we’ll be holding workshops, talks, parties and the rest from our foxy east London hub until April. We’re producing it ourselves, streaming live to the internet so no topic is off limits.

Our ode to the TV we loved - mostly places The Spice Girls would hang out like TFI Friday and The Big Breakfast, but with a very 2014 twist. We hope you enjoy the madness…

The Fox Problem powered by HP starts tonight 7.30pm and runs for 10 weeks. You can watch the first episode LIVE below...
