It's that time of year again, when Vanity Fair releases their annual Hollywood Issue. Famous for featuring the brightest stars of the film world, the Hollywood issues always contain spread upon spread of mindblowing photos; all shot by uber-photographer Annie Leibovitz until 2011 when Norman Jean Roy stepped in followed by Mario Testino in 2012 and Bruce Weber in 2013. This year's issue featuring Emma Stone, Ben Affleck and Bradley Cooper on the cover (how jelz of Emma Stone are you right now?) comes with some totally bonkers but brilliant inside shots, featuring apple-of-our-eye Eddie Redmayne with a bear, Olivia Wilde as a cabaret dancer, Quevenzhane Wallis on the drums and Kerry Washington as a sultry songstress. In short, it's ace. Here's our favourite covers from the past 16 years.
Young Hollywood! Abbie Cornish, Kristen Stewart, Carey Mulligan, Amanda Seyfried, Rebecca Hall, Mia Wasikowska, Emma Stone, Evan Rachel Wood and Anna Kendrick picnic in the park.
Ladies who lunch: Amy Adams, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, Jessica Biel, Alice Braga, Elllen Page, Zoe Saldana, Elizabeth Banks, Ginnifer Goodwin and America Ferrera.
Film Noir takes over featuring Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Chris Rock, Jack Black and a pack of friendly penguins.
What happened when they let Tom Ford design the cover. Cue a naked Scar-Jo and Keira.
Phwoar factor. A bearded Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks, Brad Pitt, Harrison Ford, Jack Nicholson, Edward Norton, Samuel L. Jackson, Jude Law, Don Cheadle, Dennis Quaid, Hugh Grant, Ewan McGregor and Matt Damon do Casual Fridays.
The legends special features Nicole Kidman, Catherine Deneuve, Meryl Streep, Gwynnie, Cate Blanchett, Kate Winslet, Vanessa Redgrave, Chloe Sevigny, Sophia Loren and Penelope Cruz. Beyond fabulous.
Teen movie times: Adrien Brody, Thandie Newton, Monica Potter, Reese Witherspoon, Julia Stiles, Leelee Sobieski, Giovanni Ribisi, Sarah Polley, Norman Reedus, Anna Friel, Omar Epps, Kate Hudson, Vanessa Shaw, and Barry Pepper (who?).
The first mixed cover featured Joaquin Phoenix, Vince Vaughn, Natalie Portman, Dijmon Hounsou, Cate Blanchett, Toby Maguire, Clair Forlani, Gretchen Mol, Edward Furlong and Rufus Sewell. Timeless elegance.
Hellooo 1996! A young Leo fresh from The Basketball Diaries, Tim Roth, Matthew McConaughey, Benicio Del Toro, Michael Rapaport, Stephen Dorff, Johnathan Schaech David Arquette and Will Smith. Also, somewhat inexplicably on the far right, Skeet Ulirch, the dude who turned out to be the killer in the first Scream movie.
Featuring Jennifer Jason Leigh, a seriously leggy Uma Thurman, Nicole Kidman, Patricia Arquette, Linda Fiorentino, Gwyneth Paltrow, SJP, Julianne Moore, Angela Bassett and Sandra Bullock. Why Gywnnie got to wear clothes while the others have stripped down to their skivvies we're not quite sure.
